This week I’ve been realizing just how important rest truly is. Sleeping. Eating decent. Taking care of yourself. Over the last few months I’ve had to recognize that at a certain point, pushing yourself to do and accomplish so much can actually put you in a place where you’re less effective, consistently tired, and often unable to properly maintain the most important relationships in life. And it might sound crazy but step one to breaking that cycle often begins with rest. I frequently say “take care” when saying goodbye. Maybe it’s time to start taking my own advice. Because if we’re not taking care of ourselves, how do we expect to properly take care of the people and the situations around us.

Thankful for a great day with a bunch of awesome and engaging people. For honest conversations, and for laughter. Lots of laughter. I think there just might be something to all those cliches about laughter and medicine.
